An innovative public-awareness initiative for strengthening integrity culture through trusted role models

The Ambassador of Integrity is a preventive anti-corruption awareness project developed by Commission for the Prevention of Corruption (CPC). Its core concept is based on a simple but powerful premise: integrity is most effectively understood and embraced when it is embodied by credible, relatable individuals whom people trust and admire.

Each year, the CPC appoints a publicly recognized individual with a strong personal and professional reputation as the Ambassador of Integrity. These ambassadors come from diverse backgrounds — including sports, humanitarian work, public service, arts and social engagement — and serve as living examples of values such as honesty, responsibility, fairness, accountability and courage.

The project moves anti-corruption communication away from abstract legal concepts and institutional language, bringing it closer to everyday life. Instead of speaking only about corruption as a legal or systemic issue, the initiative translates integrity into human stories, personal choices and real-life dilemmas that resonate with the public.

The main objectives of the project

  • To promote integrity as a practical, everyday value and decission rather than a distant institutional principle;

  • To strengthen public trust in ethical leadership and responsible decision-making;

  • To engage young people by using authentic role models to discuss values, peer pressure, responsibility and moral courage;

  • To increase public awareness of corruption prevention through accessible and emotionally compelling storytelling;

  • To contribute to a long-term cultural shift, where integrity becomes a social norm rather than an exception.

A key innovative element of the project is its strategic use of well-known and trusted individuals to help spread and strengthen the message of integrity. Through interviews, public campaigns, radio spots, educational content, social media storytelling and live youth events (such as Integrity X: Next Generation), the initiative creates bridges between institutions and communities that traditional anti-corruption messaging often struggles to reach.

Focus on young people

The project particularly focuses on youth empowerment, recognizing that integrity is formed through values, examples and social norms. By positioning integrity as something aspirational, practical and personally relevant, the project seeks to build societal resilience against corruption from the ground up.

Our ambassadors

Since its launch, the project has featured several high-profile Slovenian ambassadors and has grown into one of the CPC’s most recognizable public-engagement initiatives, demonstrating that prevention is most effective when it speaks the language of people.
